This disguise is one of many inspirations from the original story by Bram Stoker. Dracula actually wears something like this. ...Not sure if you've ever read it.

Dracula hunting monsters like the one he had been - that's a twist, indeed. But how is this possible? I'm on tippy toes, figuratively!

Dracula gives some hints about this "monster-hunting" abilities later in the story.
